– It’s
TCBA’s 50th anniversary!!! 1974-2024; and the story continues… Frank
Tedeschi -
With the (recent) switch of the Evanston franchise going to Pittsburgh, in
2024 we will be adjusting our teams by division slightly. This will be
known as the “Sajdak sibling rivalry tweak”. This will allow Ken and
Jeff to battle each other twice a year going forward. As a result,
Grand Rapids will be moving to the Central division and the Pittsburgh
Alleghenies will move over to the Atlantic. Here
is a family photo of the older brother Ken treating young Jeff not so
nicely…. Jeff
needs a few more chances to even the score…. Jeff Sajdak - The Chicks are prepared to
take on the Freemen… …and
it might get ugly. Ken Sajdak - Actual photo of the last time Jeff tried to play with the
big boys! Jeff Sajdak - See how mean my brother is! Editor – TCBA family member Dick
Gorney passed away on December 11, 2023, at age 85. Bob Braun – Prior to the start of the 2024 season, JR Richardson
chooses family over TCBA Today and steps away from his Rochester franchise.
Happily (for the rest of us), JR will continue to mentor his Turin
Mountaineers in TCBA Origins. Frank Tedeschi - I am pleased to introduce Phil Silverman, who has
accepted the responsibility to take over the recently vacated Rochester
Cheetah franchise. The new team’s name will be the New Guinea
Pigs. Philip
has 15 years of APBA league experience and is looking to get back into a
league after his previous one folded during the pandemic. He is a
self-proclaimed active trader that enjoys making player swaps. Let’s
give him a week’s time to better understand TCBA Today player values before
we approach him with any trade ideas. Professionally,
he is the Director of Coaching for SOCA, a youth soccer club in
Virginia. Philip lives in Charlottsville, VA with his bride of 28
years. His wife allows him to indulge in some harmless hobbies like the
TCBA. He has two children, one that attends McGill University in
Montreal and the other just entering high
school. His favorite team is the Cubs, and his favorite player of all
time is Ryne Sandberg. Philip is looking forward to participating in the
drafts with us in Harrisburg this March. Please give Philip a warm TCBA
welcome! Frank Tedeschi - …TCBA news regarding off
days during the playoffs going forward. The vote was about as close as
it could be. The vote tally was 11-10 (with 3 abstentions) for the
option that after all seven-game series rounds the subsequent round always
begins on day 8 regardless of the outcome of the previous round’s play.
So, there you have it. We can all plan on getting those days of rest if
our teams are fortunate enough to win a series in less than 7 games, starting
next year. Plan accordingly.
