History Brief: The Wilderness Wraiths began play in TCBA in 1902 as Franchise #1, under the gentle guiding hands of Gary Sibley. Following the 1907 season, in a move motivated by financial concerns, team operations were moved to London, Ontario, where they continued play as the Tecumsehs, led by Canadian distiller Ed Hebscher. The team would remain in Canada until 1921, when problems with Prohibition border crossings forced Hebscher to relinquish control back to Sibley. In 1972, the franchise moved from Wilderness to Ashburn before disbanding following the 1974 season. The franchise was then purchased by legendary GM Dick Gorney, who moved the team to Harbor Beach, where he claimed six division crowns and two league championships for the franchise. After a stint in Manilla, Phillipines operating the legendary Firehouse Club, Gary Sibley re-purchased the team in 1991, settling first in Birdsnest, and then in Rapidan in 1997, where he added another league crown that same year. In 2021, Gary Sibley announced his retirement from TCBA. Appropriately, control of the team was once again bequeathed to Ed Hebscher, who returned to the TCBA after an 18-year hiatus. The team settled into new quarters in Hamilton, Ontario, reclaiming the Eh’s banner from a defunct Franchise 15 Newmarket team, once operated by Hebscher.
