"When I began playing the game, baseball was about as gentlemanly as a kick in the crotch." - Ty Cobb |
Now
that we have a little more than a season and a half of Origins experience, we
thought it would be a good time to review what we have done and prepare for
the future. First, let’s remind ourselves about the Origins oddities that may
differ from both Today and the Retro experiments: Tweeks *
Origins uses standard TCBA
post-season eligibility, but without restrictions beyond what AIM dictates for
us. This is especially noteworthy for pitcher usage. *
Origins uses a 1/3 usage rule similar to that used in Today. *
There are no restrictions on the Hit&Run call.
You may wish to follow the traditional TCBA limitations, but it will not be
legislated. *
For Stolen Base Attempts, Origins
uses the Mahley Rule regarding stolen bases – a limit of 125% of actual MLB Stolen Base total (that is,
successful steals, not attempts.) Salary Cap News At the onset of Origins,
we chose a broad Salary Cap to help us launch. We know from experience that
there is a direct relationship between Cap and Wins. We also know that there
is a direct relationship between overall league enjoyment and tight pennant
races. That said, we are prepared to ratchet down the starter Salary Cap to a
level we believe will provide those desired tight races, while keeping the
Cap broad enough to provide sufficient roster
flexibility. To aid you in your preparation for future seasons, listed below
is the anticipated Cap for each forthcoming season of Origins. We have deliberately set the TCBA 1904 Cap a bit higher
to allow for an easier transition:
No team is
in danger of exceeding the Cap next season, with only one team at or near 40.
For those
teams still in the race, and for those waiting for next year, we hope you
find enjoyment! Let us never forget our Origins! |
