Norfolk Pilots - 1921-1934, 1954-2011

Dan Warren, GM

Franchise #21

History Brief: The Franchise #21 Norfolk Pilots were owned by Pilot Dan Warren until 1934, when worry about war in Europe sent Warren into military service. The franchise was transferred to Ohio newspaper magnate JB Beeman, who moved the team’s operations center to Newton, Ohio. Suffering financial losses during WWII, Beeman was forced to sell his franchise to Don Hirsch. The team moved to somewhere on the east coast, and stayed under Hirsch’s control until after the 1950 season. At that point, New Jersey attorney Jim Lafargue purchased the franchsie and moved the team to the Jersey Shore. In 1955, after a 20-year military stitnt, Dan Warren retook control of the franchise until the conclusion of the 2011 season, when he retired from active TCBA play.
