Firstbaseman of the Decade

1910-1919

The second round of Origins efforts have been completed, thanks to the response from all of you. The teams and divisions are posted below, along with the Player-manager names. As a reminder, the Player-manager is not your Away-Games-Computer Manager. He is, instead, an innocuous player created to offer roster flexibility, rated at all positions, and carrying a name gifted by you. That is a long-about way of saying he is YOU, or someone very much like you.

Woody Wood, Stick Fiehl, Jimmy Mac, Red Braun… they are clearly us. Elbie Lafargue reflects Jim’s father. No No Katon is, well… I don’t know. Perhaps it is Aaron in a short skirt. No, No! Not that! And we still await the arrival of the Turinese Player-manager. Padre Pio perhaps?

Changes can obviously still be made, so don’t feel obligated to stick with the one you’re with.

Here’s the current line-up:

Tweeks

Over the next few months, we will reveal various aspects of Origins designed to enhance your enjoyment and facilitate ease of play. This week’s tidbits (with some repetition) follow:

* Origins will require standard TCBA post-season eligibility, but without restrictions beyond what AIM dictates for us. This is especially noteworthy for pitcher usage.

* Origins will use a 1/3 usage rule similar to that used in Today.

* A firm salary cap of 62.0 WAR will be used. This corrects an erroneous amunt listed in Newsletter #2.

* There will be no restrictions on the Hit&Run call. You may wish to follow the traditional TCBA limitations, but it will not be legislated.

* For Stolen Base Attempts, Origins will use the Mahley Rule regarding stolen bases – a limit of 125% of actual MLB Stolen Base total (that is, successful steals, not attempts.)

No To-Do for You

There is no To-Do for this issue. Sometime next month we will provide you with a complete database of players who will be eligible to participate in Origins. In Excel format and painstakingly put together by Bob Wood, the database will provide you with a useful reference tool for the initial stocking draft. Look for that several weeks from now.

Yesterday is entering its final three weeks of the regular season, followed by the final Yesterday playoffs. All of that puts us on target for an October/November launch of initial Origins draft activity.

Finally, a C-file for the first Origins season is being prepared and will be available for you in a few weeks. Until then, let us never forget our Origins!
